Mobil Stars fall on the Venetian / Palazzo and many of their restaurants

The Mobil Stars were awarded and the Venetain and Palazzo were recognized The Mobil Travel Guide, originator of the prestigious Mobil Star ratings program, provides the most comprehensive ratings and reviews of hotels, restaurants and spas.

To achieve a Mobil Four-Star status, hotels must meet or exceed Mobil’s service standards that are based on 750 standardized criteria including overall guest experience and customer service. The ratings are determined through unannounced, undercover Mobil Travel Guide evaluators.

“We are honored to have both our resorts, The Venetian and The Palazzo, awarded with the distinguished Mobil Four-Star rating,” stated Rob Goldstein, president and COO of The Venetian and The Palazzo. “We strive to offer our guests the best in customer service, upscale amenities, and superb hospitality and these awards are validation of those efforts and a testament to the hard work of each and every one of our team members.”

The Mobil Travel Guide Star Restarunt Winners at The Venetian and The Palazzo include: Canyon Ranch SpaClub, AquaKnox, B&B Ristorante, Bouchon, David Burke, Delmonico Steakhouse, Pinot Brasserie, Postrio, TAO, Valentino, Carnevino, CUT, LAVO, Restaurant Charlie, Table 10 and Woo.

This is the first year The Palazzo has been rated and it joins the list of overall 2009 recipients as one of its newest additions. For the fourth consecutive year, The Venetian tops the list as the largest property on the highly-regarded list of 137 hotels in North America.

Las Vegas Somms grap the pots and pans and show off their culinary skills

We all know that Sommeliers are experts in their fields. Las
Vegas has some of the best in the world, many of them have
obtained the title of Master Sommelier which takes years of hard
work to obtain.

We were having lunch lakeside at Marche Bacchus when owner Jeff
Wyatt invited VINO LAS VEGAS to a very unique event. Somms in
the Kitchen was formed by Sommeliers in Las Vegas to show off their skills in the kitchen instead of where they are normally found in the wine cellar.

William Sherer , Master Sommelier spoke with Elaine of Vino Las Vegas and explained how the group began as we enjoyed some great dishes prepared by the Somms and of course some great wine.

Award Winning Brew Master Dave Otto gives VINO LAS VEGAS a lesson on beer making

If you haven't tried one of Dave Otto's award winning hand crafted beers here at the Big Dog's
and Draft House, you have been missing out on some of the best beer in
Nevada. VinoLasVegas had the opportunity to speak with Dave and listen as he explained the rather complex procedure of beer making.

Dave came to Las Vegas over ten years ago with a beer making kit in the back seat of his car and a dream in his heart. Dave had a passion for home beer making but he could see that Las Vegas could provide open doors for him to produce great beer for the public at a reasonable price. With his dream and the desire to succeed, he landed a job at the Holy Cow restaurant, (which has now been closed.) Dave's goal was to become the Brew Master. Being new to Las Vegas he was ready to roll up his sleeves and do what is takes to make
it in the City of Lights. Dave started as a slot tech and waited for the
opportunity to work as an assistant beer maker. His time finally came. He then went on to
become the Brew Master for all of the Big Dog's Corporation in Las Vegas. With assistant
beer maker, Sam McKinney, Dave is creating award winning beers. Dave has won gold medal's
in the World Beer Cup and the Great American Beer Festival. Las Vegas should be proud to have
this talented beer maker here in Las Vegas.

he explains the beer making process.

Taqueria Canonita provides VINO LAS VEGAS with a view and great food

Taqueria Canonita located in the middle of the canal shoppes at the Venetian hotel, lends itself to the taquerias one may find in Mexico, but with the romance of Venice in the background. Taqueria Canonita is a great place to stop and people watch
and enjoy the open dining area as you
indulge in wonderful Mexican dishes
while watching the singing gondoliers escorting their gondolas with
smiling tourists down the canal.
As we sipped on their signature Jerepico Margeritas, we sampled
some of the best guacalmole in Las Vegas. With the hint of lime,
and serrano peppers, we quickly emptied our bowl of this fufilling
appeitzer.

Taqueria Canonita's chef Daniel Marquez, along with his great staff will
certainly make your stop in "Mexico" and "Venice" a special dining
experience. For more information go to http://www.canonita.net/home.html

VINO LAS VEGAS rings in 2009 in style at the Venetian / Palazzo Resorts

We have dined at many of the world renowned restaurants in both the Venetian and the Palazzo properties. There was no other place we rather celebrate New Year's 2009 than at these two resorts.

Mario Batali's Carnevino was one of our stops. The calamari was
excellent and Executive Chef Zach Allen stopped by for a chat.
He was preparing New Year's dinner for about 1000 guests between the three Batali restaurants all located in either the Venetian or Palazzo.

Even though he had his hands full for the
evening Zach had time to treat us to his
own " Zack Attack " Amaro. This Amaro
was very smooth and herbaceous with hints of sage , basil and toasted almonds.

David Burke's namesake restaurant was getting ready for a special
New Year's Eve 5 course dinner with a Champagne toast.

Perhaps the biggest honor of the evening was at Charlie Trotter's Restaurant Charlie. After stopping in for a drink we were invited by the staff to stay and celebrate the final seconds of 2008 with a toast. As we counted down to 2009 we could not think of a greater honor than to
start off 2009 with the staff of this Michelin award winning restaurant.

Our first restaurant visit of 2009 was at Morels French Steak House. Executive Chef Eric Bauer has done a great job providing a well balanced menu , great wine list and highly sought after patio
dining over looking the strip.

We could not leave until we celebrated the
New Year at one of the resorts world famous clubs.

LAVO has only been opened a short while but has already made a name
for itself. New Year's Eve was a great time to experience this high tech club first hand. The club is very chic and the music radiated over
the club's multiple floors keeping it's guest moving non stop for hours.

A night of celebrities , a great concert , wonderful food and a exciting club with a New Year's Eve toast will not soon be forgotten. It was a very special experience that only the class and sophistication the Venetian / Palazzo could provide.

Join VINO LAS VEGAS as take you with us for the last hours of 2008 at the Venetian /Palazzo
Resorts.
