VINO LAS VEGAS attends the Great Las Vegas SteakOut at Del Friscos and enjoys the best from Silver Oak Cellars

VINO LAS VEGAS had the opportunity to attend the Great American Steak Out at
Del Friscos Double Eagle Steak house. The proceeds for this event support culinary scholarship programs at the College of Southern Nevada and has risen over $ 130,000 over the last four years.

Silver Oak Cellars produces legendary wines under two labels . Under the Twomey label
they produce Pinot Noir and Merlot. The Label of Silver Oak covers all of their
Cabernet Sauvignon production. As many people are aware these two labels produce to what many consider some of the finest wines in the world.

Del Friscos has quite a reputation itself as one of the areas finest
steak houses in the area. With this renown combination of some great wines and a wonderful restaurant we knew it would be a meal that we would remember for quite some time. Executive Chef Fernando Guerrero really out did himself with the food and wine pairings. What made this dinner especially challenging to pair was all of the wines were red. Chef Fernando pulled it off with flying colors with Sous Chef Dean Messiana.

We started the evening off with passed Hors D'ouevre that
included Vegetable Stuffed Mushroom Caps, Escargot , Sliced
Kurobuta Pork with Rosemary Au-Jus and Ahi Tuna Salad. This
was paired with Twomey Pinot Noir 2006 Russian River.

The Second Course was an amazing Italian Pasta Salad with
Arugula paired with a very nice Twomey Merlot 2004 Napa.

We were just getting warmed up when the Third Course of
Swordfish Livernaise with lemon , butter, capers ,olives and tomatoes arrived at our table. Our first Silver Oak Cabernet of the evening , a 2004 Alexander Valley really showed off this course.

We were now ready for the Entree and Chef Fernando really hit a home run with Filet Mignon
topped with a Bone Marrow Butter accompanied by roasted rosemary potatoes. We were all presently surprised by pairing this with four Silver Oak Cabernets.

We started with a Silver Oak Cabernet 2003 Napa and it just
got better from there with a Silver Oak Cabernet 1995 Alexander
Valley , a 1994 Alexander Valley and finishing with an outstanding
Silver Oak 1990 from Alexander Valley. We have been to many
wine dinners all over the country and we have never had a course
paired with four world class wines all at one time. In a word, the Entree and these wines was Amazing.

We finished off the dinner with a
Desert that included Chocolate covered Cheesecake Bon Bons
paired with the remaining Silver Oak Cabernets from the Entre.

During the dinner guests had the option of participating in a silent Auction with great gifts from wine baskets , dinners , cameras and even a printer. All of the proceeds were to benefit this great cause at the College of Southern Nevada

Steve Raszkin , Director of Sales Western U.S for Silver Oak Cellars was ever present as he spent time at each table talking about the wines. As we thought from the outset, this was a meal that will be remembered for a long time. Kim , Steve , Chef Fernando and the entire Del Friscos staff did an outstanding job presenting this dinner and should be commended.
